Ventinovedodici

These are the reasons for the name:

- Twenty: the evening, aperitif time
- Nine: breakfast, coffee time
- Twelve: brunch, a quick snack, lunch time

The choice of the name is due to the coherence of ideas between the architect and the client who together brought forward the idea of creating a "strong" and "recognizable" identity for a type of entertainment that often has a worn-out image. We did not use stratagems or extreme customizations as often happens for American coffee shops (the chain ones); instead, we aimed to tell through our project a sort of "slow food" in the name of conviviality and a purely urban setting.

The glass facade towards the pedestrian area, in fact, is a light structure without pillars and in summer or in good weather, if suddenly a warm breeze becomes available in the city, it can be completely opened inviting pedestrians to participate in the pleasures of conviviality. The temptation is to be watched and to watch those who walk by without paying attention to the attention of others.

From this we can deduce that our attention was mainly focused on the “internal-external” relationship. The external window, with a simple gesture, can be transformed into a shelter (to protect oneself from a sudden rain, to create a small “urban_virtual” square). At night the windows transform into a mirror and when they remain open, they invite the passerby to peek, therefore at the game of “looking and not being seen” but in reverse, as in reality it is not. Conviviality is enhanced by the emotional involvement of the architecture that attracts and invites you to consume on site. The aim of the project was also to create a place, an informal meeting point that would act as an element of social mending in the urban fabric. The temptation is to be watched and to watch those who walk by without paying attention to the attention of others.
